Rabbit Finds Dignity

Every morning for many years I have gone for a walk with my furry yeti of a dog Lucky and very often the route taken is through a wooded trail . One day , a wet ,soggy typical winter day, Lucky discovered something under a large fern, a grey, matted bloated stuffed animal that looked very much like a child's toy that had filled with water ,a perfect candidate for a Jenny Craig ad . Every day I walked past this overstuffed rabbit and each season there were many changes to it's appearance, deflation occurred and by spring moss began to grow .In the summer the rabbit disappeared altogether ! several months later it returned, under another fern ,this time almost entirely covered with bright green moss, this was too much of a temptation for me , I took out a plastic bag from my stash in my pocket and looked around to make sure no one was watching ..................I popped that musty green bunny into the bag and took it home .The rabbit lives to this day in my garden, sometimes it ends up upside down or laying on it's side ransacked by some passing raccoon, an event from the night before , I always set it upright and let it live it's days gathering more moss in a respectable spot in my yard . Envision an entire garden filled with organically encrusted stuffed animals ..............My ideal garden.
