Lilly And The Bite Of Doom -The Last Chapter

Hemka was working away on her new commission…a woman’s mohair sweater with many vibrant colors including peach, red lavender and white. It was a busy blend of striped chaos. Hemka was hoping that the wearer of this sweater would choose a solid color under the busy hand knit. She was not accustomed to making such loud garments and envisioned what the woman that would wear this could possibly look like! She liked to picture the people in her sweaters and knit in the soul of their style.
Hemka usually ate at noon. George would come home from work and they would eat out on the brick patio. It was Lilly’s lunch time as well.
Hemka was running late as knitting was an engrossing endeavor. She went into the kitchen and started preparing lunch. George came home and Hemka called Lily. The two sat down for their meal and out walks the dog…but she looked larger and aloof. Her favorite dinner was set out - kibble, rice and chicken.
Lilly just sniffed and walked away leaving her bowl full of food! This was unusual for her - she was always hungry and never turned down a meal or a scrap or two from the table. Hemka just observed. Lilly had been bitten by the wolf the night before so perhaps she was still healing from the trauma. Other things were a little off about Lilly…her snout looked longer, her fur looked ruffed up and matted, and her eyes looked intense and mean!
That night Lilly ran off forever. The wolf returned and Lily followed it into the night, transformed into a werewolf wreaking havoc for eternity. George and Hemka were sad without Lilly and vowed never to get another pet.
Some evenings very late at night Hemka and George would hear mournful baying outside their home. Hemka got straight to work and knit a blanket and two sweaters, one for each. The blanket was grey mohair with wolfs bane knit into the wool and silver Milagros along the edges . The sweaters were also grey with protective items woven into them and chest pockets holding small silver pocket knives. They were very superstitious people and the last thing that George and Hemka wanted to happen was to become Lycanthropes, so they protected themselves in a vigilant way, never to have a restful sleep for fear of the Werewolf!
So at night lock all your doors and windows ,close the blinds ………………………..Lilly might be roaming in your neighborhood .
